MENCAFEP (Mentally Handicapped Children&Families, Educational Project) – Nuwara Eliya
This centre is unique in Sri Lanka. It looks after more than 100 handicapped children and works with the families to help them attain a more positive approach towards their offspring. Children are often rejected because their families feel that the handicaps are a punishment of their ‘Karma’. Mrs. Ranji Stubbs and her husband Chris founded this centre in 1988 and so far more than 600 families have received MENCAFEP advice and assistance. We sponsor 7 handicapped children and 4 other children in need, cared for by Mrs Ranij Stubbs.
